Ok so Ive had my b/w arg. two weeks now and when I collected him the owner of the shop said that his diet was just mice and since Ive had him Ive been trying different meats and fruits and stuff but he wont touch any of them he wont eat any fish, chicken, turkey, any type of worm, eggs or any fruit. Ive been putting mice with the frruit and stuff to try trick him into eating it but he just wont, the only other food he will touch is crickets and locust,is this because he is so used to eating mice? If anyone has any tips to get him to eat anything else it would help alot, thanks in advance.

Hi Robbie. How old is he ? if he is still young I would give him just the crickets and locust because all the hair from the mice is not good for the Tegu.It can get impacted. But still try to offer him different foods every day.Just make a little bit of it so you will not waste to much food.He will come around just give it some time. Please keep us posted on how he is doing.Good luck.I should of mentioned to give your Tegu just mice ( rodents ) about 2 or maybe 3 times a week but not every day.

Robbie, I am not familiar with your tegu but in the meantime make sure your humidity level is in tact because this also helps in the disposal of the hair.
yes, do give him time and offer other foods.
here is a very good list of tegu foods and information about them:
Robbie, I would try to maintain 70% no lower. oh, so you have a young tegu that explains all the meat eating. that's fine. just keep offereng little bits of other food and give him/her time.
Cool thanks,I'll make sure to keep it at 70% from now on,during the day his heat is between 95-100f is that ok too? I'll keep trying him with the fruit and other foods, thanks for the help,

Your welcome. If you want to you can mix in some organic fruit baby food with the lean ground turkey once he starts to eat the lean ground turkey.Try not to give him to much of the banana one.

I give them frozen/thawed out rodents. When I give them fish I get it fresh from the fish section at the local super market. With the lean ground turkey, chicken / turkey breast I give it to them fresh, too ( well the store had it frozen before and I keep it in the fridge for like 2 or 3 days ).When you feed your Tegu please make sure that you give the food to your Tegu at room temperature.
