I took Ripper to the vet once because of sneezing. One thing she was concerned with was whether there was discharge involved. In your case, a vet trip might be warranted.

If his eyes are clear, if he is alert & active, I would just keep a close eye on him before making the vet appointment. Often when a tegu drinks the fluid can come back up when handled, and I would venture to guess, when they sneeze. Sneezing can be a simple sign of lack of proper humidity (dust) too.

One or two sneezes is nothing to panic over, just keep an careful eye on them to see if it continues.

Keep us updated,

Rick

Thats interesting Rick.. Because my Monitor lets out the occasion sneeze. I didn't think Monitor lizards had any humidity so I haven't been spraying it.. But you said about the dust. Hes constantly soaking in his water bowl, which is at the cool end of the tank, so Maybe hes getting a bit of a cold? But I regularly put him in a full bath to have a swim around, in warm water.

I think I posted somewhere on this forum about when I picked him up he just ran fluid out of his mouth.. didnt seem to be coughing it up.. but it just dribbled out of his mouth.. like some sort of runny mucus. I think this is similar to what this tegu has..
Well I've had nothing else happen after that apart from the odd sneeze, so I wouldn't worry about the fluid.

Hope he/she is all good and well,
Dave.

Hey guys thanks for all the help, hes still really active like usual, eating like a horse. I havnt seen it again since. At the time i dont think he just drank water, but maybe he did a little before. I think it was Rick that said maybe becasue of the dust, I do need to moisten his bedding for now, once i get paid Im going to replace it with fresh new bedding. Thanks so much for the help.
