I recently just picked up a Arg. Black & White from my buddy who owns a pet store here in Lake Havasu City he was having trouble seling the guy so he gave it to me. he was 22inches and was a little scared of humans but I got him to trust me in 5 days flat. now he sleeps on my chest like my son does. :D
I use to have one before and I was mad at my self for giving him up I donated him to education. He was so smart! He use to try to go behind are amwar and when we use to say no in a stern but not loud voice he then would turnaround and go the other way it also was very clean it only went to the bathroom in his cage and in the tub it was great. That is why I picked up another one and am probably going to start a tegu collection. I have to say out of all the big lizards I ever had the Arg. tegu rained supreme for the easyest to tame and the smartest. No question from my 15+ years in herps. :D

I would grab a big towel and let him walk on it soon as he does pickup the towel with him in it and put it down on your lap until he stops sqwerming and then start petting him to remind him what he use to do they are smart. I don"t see why he would not be happy to be spoiled like a lap dog. and after your done give him a treat not by hand gut in his food bowel.
I just tamed him like a dog, I would respect the animal and then introduceit him to strong voice comands. I use to hold him when he was just a little guy and he would start sqwerming I would say in a stern but not yell type voice and say no while holdong him firmly but not sqweezeing to hurt him. I repeated that as well as one hour of interaction and handling per day for the first 3 months then half hour and then he came to me. I had one of the big vision cages that I kept on the ground aka tegu house I then started to let him walk around freely in my house when I was home and he loved being tucked in the bottom part of my shirt while I was playing xbox games or designing a home for a customer he would just fall asleep.
