Hi Everyone,

I am planning out a habitat/enclosure for a tegu that I am planning on getting within the next year. I have not decided whether to go with just one, or get two.

My thoughts at the moment are as follows

6 foot by 3 foot by 3 foor high enclosure with a 2 x 2 hidey hole attached but outside of it.
I am planning to built it as a 6 piece unit, each of the walls as seperate unit and then all attached, so that it is easy to take apart and move if needed, as well as if I ever want to increase the size of it.
Then the hidey hole will be seperate as well and attached with locked hinges.
The idea is to make a frame out of 1x2 or 2x2 depending on what I can get and then putting a thin plywood sheet over it.
The front wall, will have a cut out to match the hidey hole and a door so that I am able to get in and out easily.
I was thinking of using an inexpensive platic tile to do the bottom and possibly the sides, to make cleaning easier.
Lighting I am still working on, but will most likely be a basking area with several heat lamps, and some full spectrum uva/b strip lights.
Inside I will add a small tub so that it will be able to soak itself.
Decor, bedding and other stuff are still being researched.
I still need to think of the best idea for a cover, even though they aren't jumpers, I'd rather make sure that they are secure in their home, and make sure that my cats don't get in, but obviously want it to be easily openable so I can get in to do maintanence and handle the lizards.

I am interested in hearing any thoughts on the idea, and am happy to take in any advice and problems that you may see with it.

Thanks

Ghost
