Click 'Helpful Info', then under 'Caresheets' click on "Argentine Black & White Tegu Care Sheet". To save you a little time I will post your answer here, but there is a lot of useful information under the "Helpful Info" section and in the caresheets.
"The most recommended substrates when dealing with tegus are cypress mulch, orchid bark or eucalyptus mulch. They are the most popular but there are other suitable substrates. One consideration is how the substrate acts when wet. Some mold quickly, some will stick to the tegus feet and the tegus food. If swallowed it could block the intestinal passage."

we use cypress mulch from home depot lol cheapest in town.and as Rick said watch for ingesting of mulch we feed ours in tubs out of the cage has so many good things it does. 1.dont get feeding responce going in and out of cage. 2.cant eat anything but food. 3.we can control how much is eaten and by who.godd luck with your tegu there the best
