Not sure what happened to him, but when I picked him up from his cage, where he sit waiting to be picked up, his tail was bleeding. Upon inspection, he broke it, but he didn't drop it. There is just a small cut on the underside of the tail.

Is there anything I can do other than applying polysporin and tying a piece of cloth? What should I expect? The bleeding had stopped.

Tried to get a picture of it, but the little turd won't let me take a look at it.

A friend of mine said to leave it alone since his tegu break his tail all the times; others say to amputate it. If it help, he is a Colombian tegu.

Aww...no help here, but I wonder if that's how tegus end up with crooked tails. I guess they break, but don't drop.

Thanks guys, he will be going to the vet on Wednesday.

He's amazingly calm for a Colombian and actually WANT to get out of his cage, and on many days he sleep on the couch with me with his eyes closed; unlike the other Colombian juveniles and adults I dealt with. The downside is that he's picky about what he eats...

Vet doesn't see a reason to amputate yet, but said to keep an eye on it.

To the vet, it looks like he might be in the process of growing a second tail, which is why she wanted me to keep an eye on it.

Weird.
