dude, honestly i know you're not supposed to pick at stuck shed, but if my girl's tail looked like that regardless i would soak her for an hour at least and then i'd use a toothpick or something to work a little gap in one part of the shed and cut it like snipping a rubber band. if you just start a little cut then the pressure from the tail should grow the split till the shed comes off.
i trust myself to know if i'm hurting groxy or not so i'd do it. of course add more fruit, maybe a melon diet for a day or two. but seriously i would take measures to get that shed off. it's squeezing that tail hard dude. groxy would rip my hand off if i squeezed her tail that hard! _________________ 1.1.0 Arg B/W Tegu Joker n Groxy

Agreed, eckersworld, work on that tail. What do have that you could use to start a tear in the shed? For instance, I have a pair of really tiny cosmetic scissors that I would clean with alcohol and try to slide under the retained skin (after a 30 min warm water bath). A toothpick may work. Just be careful not to scratch the sensitive skin underneath.
It's hard to say what went wrong. May the shedding skin just dried on in the wrong place when it was supposed to come off. Your husbandry and diet sound good, but given this situation, I would try to get it to eat more fruit, and I would mist the mulch daily in additional to the moist hide.
Nice enclosure, and the moist hide sounds great! Don't be hard on yourself. Things just happen, even with the best of care. _________________ Laura R (FL)

well my guy still has his shed. turns out the hygrometer that i bought was broken. so i fashioned a jerry-rigged humidifier and really cracked down on his moist hide. it doesn't look constricting and shiny like that other guys. i'm saying it's just a matter of time. i'm buying the vision cage next week, hopefully that will make retaining humidity easier and more practical
