I don't think that it is too unusual, but best to check his basking temp to make sure it is not a thermal burn.

Black spots can be from heat or from black fungus. Here's a link to great ig site. I would recommend that you get a book, Iguanas For Dummies, by Melissa Kaplan, or visit her site at www.anapsid.org for some fantastic ig info.

I could be wrong, but it looks as if your ig has a considerable underbite. If so that is of more concern and may have to do with inadequate temps and calcium/UVB.

I was wondering about that, too. Mine did have MBD issues when I got him and has a tiny underbite.
