Hi ian, I'm very happy to hear your tegu arrived. just to make sure do you have one end of the tank (basking end) 90 - 110 and the other end of the tank (cool end) 65 - 70 where you can keep a hide box. here is a very good video made by one of our members on how you can make a hide box and it doesn't cost alot ..
you can offer him food and naturally water now. hatchlings need to eat everyday until they are full. tegu hatchlings are meat eaters their first year. you can offer him some crickets (a couple at a time as to not stress him out), captive raised roaches, mealworms, ground turkey, pinkie mice and maybe some cooked hard boiled or scrambled egg.
i named it rex i just decided to give her a roach to see if rex would it it she ate 5 then we happend to have chicken for supper rex ate 4 little pecies then dident eat anymorewent and basked then checked out her cave i made she loves it kinda skinny but ill fatin her up i like her a lot so far not used to the leather type skin as for shipping she came in a little box not styrofoam on the outside some of that popin stuff no heat packs she was in a diel cup with a little paper towl she looked like she got banged around very clumbsy when she came out but now shes walkin fine now i like her little snake shes driking water she seems fine and i got a thermostat thing that tells the temp and humid the digital kind and heat measure from pro excoitics it hasent got here yet

Yikes, don't mean to tease, but paragraphs and punctuation do help us to read the posts a bit better! More white space is easier on the eyes.

New tegus ARE very exciting! I named my new one "Rexie", too. Agama is known as a good breeder, but the sons are running the business right now and may do things differently than Bert did.
I hope things are going well. It sounds like you have a lot of pet care experience and great parents to help out! _________________ Laura R (FL)
