What is a good way to excersize my tegu? i dont feed any live food right now, so there is nochasing involved.

would grasshopers make a good food/excesize item. if i could get him to chase them. i have long wanted to feed him some, but nobody sells them, i may just catch some and breed them

Grasshoppers or lucust is fine. Make sure you collect them from a large area far away from anywhere that may spray the roadsides or fields with chemicals.

Allowing your tegu to free roam in a room or house is also good exercise. Place lots of empty boxes, paperbags, towels, cardboard tubes, etc for him to explore. If he is eating fruit try hiding a strawberry or grape here or there. icon_smile.gif

he roams almost all day long. his cage is always open. he just lays in sun spots and on the couch all day. we left him on the couch last night and came back 4 hours later and he never got his lazy but off the couch. he was just sleeping away up there. he wont even follow our female around after the first few days, she is so much faster than him.

He is very lazy. like a whole new level of lazy. he lets his belly drag the ground half the time instead of walking normal.

LOL - I've seen that before - my two big fat blue males (who are slowly getting back to fighting weight BTW) do that same thing, just drag their bellies around with their front legs.

A word on grass hoppers - I've been warned before about big red locusts commonly called "lubbers" they are apparently toxic when consumed. I don't remember what they look like, so just avoid any red grasshoppers icon_biggrin.gif
