The Iguana cage I was going to modify will take rebuilding to work. The back is not strong enough to be used as flooring, the opening is on the top, etc.
I am starting from scratch. I have used tile board or white board (dry erase board) on a wooden frame for Bearded Dragon cages. Here is an example picture of how they are built. (This picture was borrowed from KK Critters site, this is a chinchilla cage.)
It shows how the tile board is attached to the wooden frame. For the flooring I laminate it to a piece of 1/2" plywood, the sides are tile board on a frame.
I like using tile board because it is light weight, thin, and waterproof. Tile board is much stronger than I expected. I had a cage (empty) blow out of the back of a truck and hit the pavement. The tile board survived in tact, but the wooden frame broke.
Has anyone ever used Tile Board for a Tegu cage?
Does anyone see any problems using this material for a tegu cage?

Most any wood will work as long as it's sturdy and framed. I personally use 1/2 inch plywood and paint, but many people now use melamine (a coated pressed-dust formed wood)
