Well folks, I have decided to keep him! I've oddly grown very fond to the mean little devil. I get alot of enjoyment out of watching him walk around his cage, eat crickets, and gobble up banana. He's been quite a trip lately. He burrows under his substrate and walks around completely buried. Then he'll pop his head out, look at me, and burrow back under. He's less scared of me now, but he gets really mad when I put my hand in his tank. He starts to huff and walks toward me all dominant like. I'm hoping to overcome this soon, because it is making cage cleaning quite difficult!
Not the best picture, but he wasn't happy with me disturbing him for a kodak moment!

I have a Colombian named Java who I rescued because he was territorial and unwanted. I haven't tried to find him a home too hard because it will take a very experianced tegu keeper to have a 2 foot Colombian, that and the fact that I am kinda fond of him. My wife always wonders how I can like something that wants to bite me, but as I point out... He is scared and feels he needs to show me he is boss or I may eat him. He is not a bad tegu, he is just as he should be. He is a typical Colombian and with knowledge he can be handled though he will never be completely tame.
Once you come to the that understanding they are ok pets.

Good looking Colombian - I've had my Colombian for 5 months now, and just this week was the time she actually crawled up in my hand to come out of her enclosure. Once out of her enclosure, she also crawled up in my hands to go back in - This was a breakthrough. Seems as the Colombians take more time to build up trust in you, but eventually they get used to you. I can freely put my hands in it's enclosure for spot cleaning or cleaning the water bowl without her getting pissed - She as I keep an eye on one another though. I do however wear gloves when it comes time to have her in my hands as she bit me a few months back, but that was out of fear and was only being defensive. She drew blood at 16 inches, so now at 2 feet I will always wear gloves with this one.

Thank you! Gloves are definately a must, as Osiris seems ready to snap at me any oppurtunity he gets. He was really good today when I cleaned his waterdish though, just watched me intently but he didn't get angry!
Good to here about yours being alot tamer, gives me hope for my Columbian!
