I have had me Tegu for less than a week.
He is a Red, 25" and about 9 months old. I am keeping him in a 4'x2'x2 cage at the moment. Day time temps are 80 cool side and 95 warm side with a basking temp of about 105. I have never seen him bask.
He his eating with no problem - mice, roaches and meal worms every other day. (Previous owner only fed 2x a week, gradually building him up to more often.) No fruit or veggies yet, but I am thawing some turkey and will try mixing them tomorrow.
He has not defecated for me yet.
I bathed him last night - 30 minutes in a warm tub. No luck.
Should I be concerned?

Are my temps too low and he is digesting slowly?
Shari

i also have a red that eats non stop
i have 80 on cool side approx 90-100 in the middle and 110-115 in the basking spot. he poops everyday so all i can say is try to aduust your basking temp a little bit more i'm not to shure if 5 degrees willl make any difference but i think it may help. as well i have also been mixing fruit and turkey he loves grape and kiwi flavoured turkey haha just a suggestion on some fruit to start off with i havent had much luck with other fruits yet.
Good Luck,
Tyler

You shouldn't worry just yet...but if a few more days go by than you should perhaps seek the advice of a vet.

My tegus will often cover up their poops in the mulch after they go. So, just because you don't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen. Also, if you've only had him about a week, he's probably still quite stressed by the new environment. Give him some time and see what happens.
