The current enclosure, aquarium tank or not, should be X inches long, Y inches wide and 2' to 3' tall.
X = Twice the tegus current length
Y = The current length of the tegu
If you want to plan for the future, then X & Y for a Colombian Black Tegu (or the Gold-Phased Black) would be...
X = 84 inches
Y = 42 inches
A blue tegu would be the same as above.
For Argentine Black & Whites Tegus, as well as Argentine Red Tegus, it would be...
X = 104 inches
Y = 52 inches
This is the optimal enclosure size. If you go smaller the tegu may be fine in it, but it may be cramped and uncomfortable, which may lead to stress and illness. If you use anything smaller your tegu should have access to free roam in the room.
