I have been reading like crazy trying to learn as much as I can before I get my little baby. I read that if given too much phosphorus that it can hinder the proper asorbtion of calcium. Also it said that Thiamine (b1) imbalances could accur if given lots of dead fish. Is this dead feeder fish oe does this mean buying good fish from the market with bones and adding miner all to it? Because I also read that A good healthy fish from the market with the bones in it SOFT with miner all was good for them. I just wanted to make sure.

True. You want the proper ratio. I believe Miner-All (as well as Repti-Call) are phosphorus free or at least have a version that is phosphorus free. That is what I use.

Some fish should be fine, but I would not over do it. Most people would also tell you not to use feeder fish (like goldfish or comets) as they can carry more bacteria. I have not seen a study on this, but out of all the ickiest fish I have kept, goldfish rank #1 so it makes sense. I occasionally feed bait fish that I get from respected (clean, well run) fishing shops.
Thank You so much. Do you think it would be okay to feed the fish maybe once every other week? I just want to give him a large variety. I know I love my food and would hate to eat chicken every night!! Shannon

There really is very little info on proper captive tegu diet. Fish could actually turn out to be completely safe, but in captivity it's normally frowned upon to feed feeder fish so most people just avoid fish all together. I know people who have fed goldfish for years and then are told it's bad so they stop, yet I know of no one who can attribute any health issues to feeding feeder fish.
I feed my tegus bait fish once in awhile, but not as a staple diet. It's just a snack or treat. To be as safe as possible try buying some fish and freezing it for a month before thawing it and feeding it. Freezing does not kill all known types of bacteria, but it does kill some.
