It looks like it works well with plenty of room. Does it fit through the doorways? It would be nice to be able to bring it outside during the summer for a little natural basking.
thanks for adding a link. Here is everything besides a couple of tools that I needed.
300 gal tank from the tractor supply store 168.00
1 3/4 inch sheet of plywood 21.00
4 good sized hinges 8.00
2 latches 5.00
1 sheet of pegboard 9.00
12X12 Ceramic tile for heat pad 4.50
other than that, already had the lights
I had no building experience what-so-ever, and it came out great. The tank itself was pretty easy to get in with a little help, will fit in any standard sized door on its side. As for an outside, planning an outdoor enclosure that hopefully I can start on this spring.

The doors have pegboard in them. It's basically a thin pressed board with holds spread out every inch or so. It's commonly used in garages or stores to hang stuff on the wall.

cage looks pretty cool. I have a pool that is about seven foot across that will probably house Rufus sooner or later. The only problem is since it's round it is kinda hard to find a good place in the basement for it. I have a top that I made for it. The pool use to house a 12 inch sulcata that I was fostering.
I am still very suprised how well it came out. This is the first time I have ever used most of the tools I have (circular saw, jig saw). I really like the way this project turned out, so much that I am getting rid of my 100 gal tank and putting together another tank for my other 2 reds. It has been holding a ambient temp of around 79-82 degrees and around 105-110 under the basking area. Humidity is really good holding at about 60 percent.

How do you keep the top from sliding off? If you put it outside, wouldn't what's inside bake during the day? Like a big fat Tegu casserole? Kind of reminds me of a loaf pan with yummies inside of it!
