Sweet Oreo, you carry it! Did you type out the strain? There's a scary number of human doctors with the methicillin resistant strain (that's why it's such a horrendous nosocomial infection!) and in vets they're starting to find it hopping between humans and horses... it doesn't usually flow like that.
There's a legend about my microbi prof who discovered an equine surgeon who was shedding it, and 20 years later saw him again and chased him down the hall waving swabs to stuff up his nose and see if it was still there. I could completely see it to be true, 'cause he'll do stuff like culture my classmate's yeast infections, strep throats, wounds etc... I want to get it done eventually but right now I'm milking free salmonella and e.coli tests.... not so much for my reptiles, but I'd like to know what my bird is spreading around. We found a bunch of really nasty resistant Clostridium in the corvids around here, so it might be good to know.

No Alex I never went any further except for just the basic culture. It sounds like what you are doing is extremely interesting. I applied for a position with an ID doc before but lost out to a PA with a few more years experience. You are a lucky person to be doing what you are. I wish I could get into something like that.(Stuck in Family Practice office for now)
