Picked up 1.2 babies from underground and I'm more then happy with them. They have more at 175ea. Ryan has a female he believes is platinum he's selling her offspring at 300ea. If your looking for blues give them a call 954-428-8434

Platinum is just a color variation of Blue Tegu, not a morph. It has not been proven genetic, so just because someone has a female that looks platinum, the babys are just blues. Some may look platinum, some may look blue, some may look high white. In my opinion it's immoral to sell them for twice what he is charging for blues and leading people to believe they are getting a trait that is proven. I have a platinum colored blue female, but when I sell her hatchlings I will not double the price for a tegu that could turn out any color as it grows.

I will have blues this season if all goes well. I have a blue colored blue female, a platinum colored blue female, and a high white colored blue female. I have a blue colored blue male that should mate with them. Check my site starting next June.

Rick

Rick,
How much would you charge for a blue out of your blue that looks platinum? If you don't mind me asking. You can PM me with details if you wish including shipping prices and etc.

thanks
-Daniel

Also, WHAT makes them look platinum. OK let me re-phrase that. What is it that makes platinum look different than a typical blue.

Rehab no idea what ur talking about, any place that carries imported reptiles (90% of all herp stores) will have some crappy looking animals. That is just the way things go. You have no idea what stage they are in (did they just come in? Ect.).

Rick people sell unproven ball morphs for more then proven ball morphs, whats the problem with that? The ones that buy them know they aren't a proven morph.

There is NO SUCH THING as a Platinum Blue Tegu IMO. There is NO SUCH THING as a SNOW BLUE TEGU IMO. Albinos kept outside will turn white, and these supposed snows when bred back will also produce normal looking albinos. True snows are produced by an albino animal bred to an axanthic and then the hets must be bred back. Snows bred to Snows produce ONLY snows.

Animals are worth what one will pay.

If albinos kept outside turn whiter, than how do you get blues to turn "platinum"

John,

The point is that these "platinum" tegu hatchlings that Underground Reptiles are selling are from what he thinks is a platinum looking blue tegu. Now if he was selling this adult female platinum looking tegu as a platinum tegu, than fine. He is not, the babies are being sold as "platinum". Just because the mother looked platinum does not mean the babies will. Does he guarantee that these will turn out platinum looking for the nearly double price he has put on them?

Also, in reply to what you said "The ones that buy them know they aren't a proven morph." - I don't honestly believe that everyone paying twice as much for a 'platinum' over a normal blue, realizes that the platinum is just a variant of the normal blue, and that the baby they just bought may very likely be just a normal blue.

Hey Guys,

I don't konw underground reptiles personally, but did see an ad the recently placed on kingsnake advertising Chacoan Red tegus for sale. I emailed the guy for pics of his giant reds, the female supposedly over 5 ft long and the male over 4 1/2 (that was his claim not mine). He sent me photos and the adults don't look anywhere near that size. SO much for his chacoan red tegu theory, I think I will shy away from them. Either they are ignorant or dishonest either way I am not iterested.

Hello
I saw this add also and was curious if this was a true locality for the reds.
Thanks

I have dealt with Underground Reptiles three different times and have nothing but good things to say about them.
All three deals worked out perfectly.

Ok, the header says: Chacoan Red Tegu (CB BABIES), but in the ad it says: Paraguayan Red Tegu true bloodlines very hard to get.

There is nothing rare about Paraguayan Red Tegus, and they are not Chacoan. So is this misrepresenting these animals?

This guy has threads on the BOI, I can see why.
