o.k I was at my local petstore today and I decided I ned another teg, so i spent 400 bucks on new enclosure I got cypress mulch, basking bulb, rapt glo 10.0 , a night time heat bulb, moss, stuff to make a new hide , thermometer, all the light fixtures , another habba mister and enclosure. I now have to find an animal to put in it. i really have a problem, I love the setup process so much. It is so fun, I got a low enclosure this time so in june i can get another and stack it and start all over again.
im with ya. i love doing projects like that. the wonderful power of money is not on my side right now, so it will be a while before im able to start something like that

alecboobie, i feel ya i was so broke i couldn't pay attention, but I got a good job and It is really nice to have play money for things like that. I am sure it will turn around for ya.
angelrose, it's true i love the tegu's and if you are gonna buy one you need to take care of them. I really dislike it when people get all excited and buy something and realize they don't have anything to feed it or house it. The cage needs to be on your mind before the animal

Jose great looking cage Man agree with you if your going to keep herps keep them real good but thats not the case because Im gettin alot of rescues of people that dont respect herps and know nothing about them always do your research about herps you want to keep thats what i tell anyone interested in herps better for you and the herps

fore sure, you need to basically look at it like, o.k cage is $ , lights $, food $, etc...$$$ and after you figure what everytning cost then factor in the herp cost at the end if you don't have enough then don't buy the herp, its like the grocery line when you don't have enough and you have to put something back, well the herp needs to be the item to go back everytime. people wouldn't live in a house that had no roof or water or electricity so why have your herp move into an unfinished enclosure.
bottom line, be patient the tegu is gonna always be around

why do people think you can put a lizard in some tupperware and it will be cool, or hey let me get a full grown tegu and put him in a 20 gallon aquarium because i will take him out often.

Ive kepted geckos in tupperware and have used 300 gallon tanks for tegus but if you can provide for them right make another selection maybe leopard gecko _________________ TEGUS TEGUS AND MORE TEGUS
you know what i mean though, the tipicle is somebody gets home with a lizard and starts looking through the house for a make shift thing to put it in. when they just left a placethat sell cages.

Angelrose.You crack me up .
bubbasherps.I know how it goes with the rescue thing. We finally picked up Venus ( frilled dragon ) yesterday. We had a better chance to look at her when we got home.I feel so bad about Venus because the previous owners didn't take care of her the right way.The enclosure was full of poop and bugs and crickets,no water and the water dish had algae in it.Her frill has holes in it and her lips are not shutting all the way.The ears look like they have some kind of white stuff on them, they don't look clear like on my Tegus. They didn't even had a basking light for her. They just put a regular 60W bulb in the light fixture. But she is as sweet as she can be.Thank God I had her on a reptile leash because when I took her out side today she was basking in the gras for a while and than started to run of and went up half way a tree .I'm going to take her to the vet soon to get her checked out.
