Red Tegu not eating

Hi redtegu.I really like that picture.It's nice to see that they get along.I recommend giving him some fuzzes or a hopper,too.If you want to try to give him some ground turkey,one slice of a babana ( to start our with ) and a small slice of a very ripe mango.Mash the banana and mango together and mix it with the ground turkey ( room temps ).Try to put the plate on a tile or wood floor ( it's easier to clean than carpet because sometimes they will drag the food of the plate or wipe the face on the floor ) .If he doesn't seems like he doesn't want to eat step back a few steps.My Zeus didn't want to eat at first when we were standing to close to him when it was feeding time and now he trust me so much that I can feed him with my hand.It also would help allot if you take him outside and let him get some natural sunlight.I don't know if I sad that already.Hope that helps.Good luck.

He does look kinda bloated. I wouldn't force supers anymore because of the hard exoskeleton. Entice him with smelly stuff like chicken baby food, raw ground turkey, txrepgirl's banana smoosh, and angelrose's meat list. Those are yummy, mushy, smelly foods.

Definitely get that UV going...it's an appetite stimulant as well as a necessity for calcium metabolism. Proper temps will get the digestive system going, too, by increasing overall metabolism. If you do put him outside, don't put him in a glass tank so he doesn't overheat!

I put some live pinks into the tegu's cage after failing to get him to eat anything even tegu bites!

Seems my tegu has trained himself not to eat out of a dish which has me worried. I say this because i watched him for a solid 20min staring at them. The very second one got out of the bowl he ate it. Should I use paper towels instead of cypress mulch to prevent impaction?

do you take him out of the enclosure to eat ? that would be best.

He will not eat outside his enclosure. he is extremely affraid of people and just about anything that is not his enclosure.
