We name ours after characters, usually.

From Harry Potter:
Aragog (spider), Narcissa (scorpion), Pigwigeon (hognose), Winky (one-eyed corn), Kreacher (tegu)

Twilight:
Bella and Edward, a pair of Beardies

Lord of the Rings:
Legalus, a corn snake (leg-less)

Flintstones:
Bam, Pebbles, Fred, Wilma (corns)

Other animals have come previously named, or were named after miscellaneous characters or personality traits...Oscar the Grouch, Jack Sparrow, Rexie, Toby-Mac, Samson, Monty Python.

Anyway, glad to hear that your caging has worked out better. The humidity might work out on its own if the bedding dries out just a bit.

another thing, for the last 1 1/2 days he has been in the water bowl for a long time.it looks like he is also sleeping in the water bowl at night. i have to wake him up and take him out of the water bowl for
basking/feeding,but he is very allert when i take him out.
there was some shed in there when i cleaned it out.
so is it normal for columbian tegus to spend alot of time in water, and even sleep in it?
or is it because he is shedding or does he go in there instead of burrowing?

colombians are tropical. my b/w colombian loves the bath and will close her eyes and just float on her driftwood I place in the bath with her.

my golds are kind of new but they like it in the bath. they also love to be misted while basking.

I have a large enough 'pool' of water in all their enclosures so they can take a dip when they choose. it's easier.

the skin/shed should just glide right off of them like silk.

icon_redface.gif icon_biggrin.gif thank you greentriple ( Ricardo ) for the sweet words.

GotteGuy.Our two arg. Tegus like to soak more in the water when they are shedding than when they are not.Reptiles also do that when they are dehydrated.

he's slowed down on the eating a bit (probably because of the season).

i have yet another question icon_lol.gif icon_wink.gif

has anyone seen this excavator sand that you add water to to make clay burrows for reptiles (usually in petsmart)?
i use it for some of my leopard geckos.i was wondering if i could make it like this for my tegu,as a burrow he doesn't have to dig or collapse--

(i didn't draw this,i just got it off the internet, but something like this) (maybe the deepest part wider to curl up in)
