My B&W tegu is 3 months old and I ALWAYS offer her fruits. All different kinds such as pears, bananas, kiwi, mangos and so on but she doesnt want to have anything to do with them, but my red tegu I just bought on Saturday is about a month old and eats fruit so I dont understand what the problem is. Is it still too early for my B&W to be eating fruits or is there something I need to be doing to get her to eat them?? Can they live without eating any fruit? Thanks

Katie

Mine don't care much for fruit either - He seems to like banana once in a while, however does not go crazy over it - I've read that some don't take to fruit at a young age, but as they get older - It's worth it to keep trying though - She can live without fruit ...

I don't have a Red, however they do need fruit to avoid skin problems, and since your Red is eating fruit, that is a good sign ...

And where is the pics of the new Red ? icon_wink.gif

When I give Gooch his veggies and fruit I mince it very small in a food processor and add it to his turkey . He likes it that way. It might be worth a try if you really want to give your tegu fruit. Shannon

I have been doing this as well with Spicoli. I just mash up some blueberries or apples, or whatever and mix them with the turkey. He likes the turkey and probably doesn't even much notice the fruit in it, but it should help his taste buds to accept the fruits later.

Yeah I have noticed that my tegu takes the turkey and does the "death shake" with it and the turkey goes all over the cage. It's pretty funny. Could I give her frozen fruit? They have some at Trader Joes that is frozen in bags that we buy and it has no added sugar it is just pure fruit...the only difference is it is frozen. Would that be alright? Or does it have to be fresh?
