has anybody tried feeding feeder fish to their tegu's? I know that feeder fish are very bad for useing as feed, and they offer very little value for your pet... It is not recommend feeding feeders to any pet... but do people do this?

thanks

I don't know how good or bad goldfish would be to your tegu. I know they bring with them a lot of ammonia, so if that turns out to be a bad thing, then there you go.. I am sure someone will know.

Last night, though, for the first time, I gave Spicoli, my 9 week old B&W some minnows that i got from a trusted bait shop, and he took down 15 of them in a frenzy..

did you feed the tegu the fish still alive?? in his water bowl? or where they prekilled? or did u feed them out of tongs or something?

Feeder goldfish have a hormone in them, that prevents growth in animals who eat them... + they usually come with lots of parasites and fish diseases.. I dont know how transferable they are from water to reptile..

THe minnows i fed Spicoli were alive and in a cereal bowl with a little water in the bottom.. He wouldn't eat them out of the water, but their instinct is to flop out of shallow water and try to find bigger water, so as soon as the jumped out, he would get them
