Ya well my first question is
Can I feed my Black and white
Ground Beef. ?

My second question would be
my Tegu Tila was 16in a month
ago. Now I've remeasure her and
she's only grown 2mm is this normal
or a tegu?

3rd what other types of vegetations can
i feed a tegu I feel like she's becoming sick
of her everyday food items I feed her
2 pinkys and about 21 crickets.
Next feeding I give her fruits
Next feeding is Eggs with Fruits in them.
and then I repeat the process.
Is their a site I can go to that would
list the items they can eat.
Please help I dont want Tila to become
bored with her food and then stop eatting.

Duron.

Could it be that she's trying to hibernate.
She show all the behaviors of a tegu trying
to hibernate.

Hi,

No growth in a month suggests to me that something is wrong somewhere. Its more likely to be a prob with your set up than boredom with its diet.

I would suggest that you look at your temps, particularly your night time lows. You may need to use a digital max/min thermometer to check this.

Hope this helps
Mark.

Ground beef is fine, provided it is good quality, low fat beef.

I know in this country, it's possible to get 95% fat free minced beef but not sure over the pond.

Her Temp is 90-100 on her basking side
and 83 on the cool. Is this off should I
buy another heater for the right side.

When you say basking side, is that the ambient around the basking end, or the actual basking spot temp.

If it's the basking spot temp, then yes it about 20F out, but if thats the ambient, and the basking spot is a touch higher, it should be fine.

The ambient elsewhere in the enclosure is not really an issue, as the Tegu will thermoregulate to it's own requirments anyway.

Underneath the basking spot is 100
The middle of her 60 gal is 85
on the right is 83

and this is during the day.
Now could this be the reason
why she's hasnt grew very much
over this last month should I rasie it.
Another question is what should I lower
it to at night?

You should definately raise the basking spot temp, around 120 would be better.

It is possible he is not digesting food properly because of this.

The night time temp is not as importnat, as long as it doesn't fall too far below around 70

I have a simple question that I hope at least one person can answer, but how often and how extensive to I need to check on a tegu? I don't actually have one...yet...but there are a few questions that I want to know before I get one. Another question I have is if I should start breeding mice because I heard that I need to feed an adult tegu usually about 10-12 mice a week and my budget can be a bit low...

Unlike maybe a goldfish, the Tegu has varying needs throughout the day that you will need to provide for them - It's not a drop in the fish bowl type of pet, and I would not start breeding mice just yet...

Although this probably not the immediate issue in question...a 60g is WAY too small of an enclosure for even a juvenile tegu. an avegerage 60 gal is 12 in / 48 in...not even allowing a 16 in tegu enough space to turn around comfortably! My two adult blues are currently living in the paritioned off back corner of my yard (16 ft X 20 ft X 20 ft or so) and they utilize every last square inch every day. icon_eek.gif . I highly suggest after solving the immediate health concerns - you look into much larger accomdations.

I currently have four tegus...and I spend about an hour minimum on them a day. As far as mouse consumption...opinions recently have been changing a great deal on tegu diet, and the general consensus seems to be that rodents should comprise a very small percentage of a tegus diet anyway. But do bear in mind owning tegus can be a VERY expensive endevour.
