I am going to be building my outside tegu enclosure and I have a few questions/concerns.
How deep will tegus dig?
Will I have to put some wood down so they wont dig under the fence?
Is it ok if I have the fence a couple feet into the ground or will they dig underneath it?
Can they climb a 6 foot block wall or will I need a top?
Tegus arent the best climbers, so a 6 foot wall should be solid, if you wanna tapper it so theres a gradual lip, works just as well.
As for digging, correct me if im wrong, but i think 1 foot is teh norm. Some people have concrete slab that the fence goes into, with the dirt on top, but it seems rather extraneous
Yea, I know a few people here keep there tegus outside... Bert would ideally be the best person to ask, he keeps the majority of his outside, actually I think he talks about on his website, i'll see if i can find the link..
Wow, Bert really changed the website around... and he really goes all out for his enclosures, galvanized steel sheets on the ground 2 to 3 feet deep. here's the link for the full explination http://www.agamainternational.com/pages/terraria.htm
