I think it would depend on how much of the tail was lost in the 1st place, and most likely it will not grow back to full length - One of my Ameivas lost about 4.5 inches of her tail, and it took 2 months to grow back 3.5 inches...

The cleaner the break of the tail, the better chances of regeneration and it will grow back to look a little different as well - If kept clean and taken care of, this more than likely will hurt your feelings more than the Tegu even expresses any discomfort...

i was told by a tegu breeder that the tail will not grow back to full length. also it will grow in a darker color. if you have like mine an argentine black and white .. the black stripes will be much thicker on the tail when it grows back

ya, tails will grow back a solid colour (usually black) and lose all the pattern.. they don't get as long as normal, but they still form a smooth point at the end. Also, bones don't regenerate... the tail grows back with cartiledge instead.

My male had a regenerated tail, and it looked pretty cool IMO. Although a perfect tegu is always a bonus, the regenerated tail is interesting.
