Well Deuce is my first Tegu, I had no Idea he was going to grow so fast. I measured him today and he's 36" snout to tail tip.
He is growing rapidly and is very healthy with a great personality.
I got Deuce from Rick as a hatchling this past year. I am very happy with him, but I just can't get over the fact that he's 36" and not even a year old. He loves his weanling rats daily and his crickets here and there. The only fruit he'll eat are grapes and bananas.

He looks happy. They will grow very big if they are not hibernated. It is great to hear he is doing good. icon_wink.gif

Thanks for the help with the photo. It's been a while since I posted.

Yes, Deuce is doing very well. I tried to encourage him to hybernate but he just didn't want to miss his meals.
He wakes up in the morning comes out of his hide, warms up, eats, drinks, poops and sleeps till the next morning when he does it all again. He's pretty lazy, even when I let him out for exersice he walks around my bed for a minute then he crawls under my pillows and goes to sleep until I put him back in his enclosure a couple hours later.

That's a nice looking tegu, and mine does the same thing (goes to sleep under my pillows on my bed). icon_smile.gif

What a lovely looking tegu icon_smile.gif They do shoot up dont they?

Im a bit surprised to see a tegu cage with no diggable substrate actually - how do you manage to keep the humidity up? Even with regular sprayings our mulch will dry out in a few hours. Nightmare!

On the other side of Deuces enclosure is a rubbermaid roughneck box that is filled with moist substrate, I cut a hole in one side of it for him to get in and out. he likes to spend a lot of time in there. The box holds humidity really well. Deuce also takes a nice long soak every other day. I tried the loose substrate in the whole enclosure but he made a huge mess with it, and even with daily spot cleaning it had an oder to it. He seems to like this fine so far, he tears up the paper daily and loves to hide under it.

Great looking Tegu...he doesn't look like he minds the leopard gecko set up with the moist dirt in a container. If it's working, keep it going.

Thanks Deuce is my boy..he's so great.
He out grew his indoor enclosure a lot faster than I had anticipated so I had to build him a new enclosure outside that would give him plenty of room.

Couldn't get more than one photo to add at a time on this reply so I had to do different pictures in different posts. sorry....
