I recently got a timid red tegu that had bad stuck shed, missing toes and 9" of dead tail that was still attached. After much work he is all better. The shed is done, the tail was amputated and is starting to grow back and he is active and friendly now. I have trained him and today was his first visit to the local park. We were out there all day today..

I am not 100% certain what his original name was, but we have named him Rubic (short for Rubicund. Adj. 1. rubicund - inclined to a healthy reddish color)

Here are a few Pictures.

congrats rick, he looks quite nice. icon_biggrin.gif Tomorrow (thursday) I am going to pick up a red tegu that has swollen toes (due to stuck shed) and shed problems on the tail, it isn't so bad to where the tail is dead, but it has patches of dead skin that is stuck on it. I plan on soaking her for a few hours a day, and applying neosporin ointment where it is needed (some spots are bleeding, or so I was told) her name is Ceres, and she just needs some good caring and a good home, so I'm going to give it to her, she has been hibernated, which is a plus for me, but anyways (sorry for rambling) to the point, do you have any pointers for me, I am always up for suggestions, and I wouldn't want to overlook anything. icon_wink.gif

nice! how do you get away with letting her roam around in a park though? i thought big reptiles couldn't be taken in public except at events and shows.

Great Pictures Rick, so the tegu would just hang out wherever you set it..? Didn't try to run off or anything?

Maine has a law that restricts animals that cause a disturbance. My tegus are tame, friendly and clicker trained so they can roam the park and will return to me when I press the clicker a few times.

I do have harnesses I made for them but I only put a harness on them at the park when people show up to the part of the park we are in and the people see the tegus and act nervous.
