Since the begining of winter, Atticus's activity has declined greatly. He is now sleeping days at a time, buried underneath his Repti-Bark. Every couple days, he will emerge from is substrate, to eat and bask. Burying himself in the early evening. I know this is normal behaviour. Recently his behavior has changed. It s going on a week and he has not emerged. Since he is a Gold Columbian, he has a attidude problem, and I do not want to add to his Agression. So I do not disturb him when he is buried. Anyways My question is. If he continues to go into deep hibernation, Can I shut his light\ heat lamps off? Thanks!

I would keep the heat lamps on at all times. Even thought they are under the substrate they still need like the heat. Sometimes I'll pull mine out of the bedding but I'm learning to leave them alone. Sometimes it's hard lol. _________________ John Light

Yes, particularly if he comes out to eat. They will often come out every few days to bask for a bit and have some food, so its best to replicate natural conditions in case he emerges.

Turns out Atticuss was not in deep hibernation. He emerged shortly after my post. Up to his normal activities. Eating, basking, jumping, and of course sleeping!
