The New England Amphibian & Reptile Rescue (NEARR) provides permanent placement & adoption to abandoned and abused herps of all sorts; including, but not limited to; snakes, lizards, frogs and turtles.

NEARR has taken in a Colombian Gold-Phased Black Tegu. It is available to contributing members of NEARR for a week, then it becomes publicly available. It will be publicly available Monday, May 1st.

He is one of the most beautiful gold tegus I have seen. He is Colombian, not an Argentine. He is not aggressive, but he is a bit jumpy. Any sudden movement could make him jump and attempt to run from you. I am personally fostering him until he is adopted because I am the most tegu experinaced member of NEARR.

This tegu is not a black and white with some yellow coloring, he is indeed GOLD.. but you don't need to take my word for it!

Here are a couple larger pictures

If you are a member of NEARR you can adopt this beautiful tegu now.

If your not, you can join NEARR then adopt or wait until May 1st to adopt him.

As always, I don't recommend a Colombian tegu as a first tegu. They require basic handling skills to make them feel comfortable in your hands.
