I think there should some stuff on other Teiid species like a forum or possibly some articles, everyone likes Tegus but not everyone has the room for them, such species as Ameivas, true dwarf tegus & monitor tegus (callopistes), whiptails, racerunners and kentropyx should be included just my 2 cents icon_smile.gif

This community is mostly directed at Tupinambis species, but if you can get enough interest in the other Teiids in the 'Reptile' forum located under 'Other Pets & Discussion' I would be more then happy to make a sub-forum for 'Teiids'.

that particular subspecies of the green ameiva is said to max out at 24 inches and max svl rumored to be 7-8", I've talked to someone who had caught some in FL (where they are naturalized) and have been trying to get them to catch me 2.3 of them (since they arent native anyways) for a fututre breeding project, but as for the retail pet trade the closest i've seen is the normal green ameivas which still reach about 20" and an svl of 6" for a big male

I'm still waiting for someone to get Callopistes maculatus and tell me about them. I've never seen one in person, only books and they seem very interesting.

once i get my tegu's 6 x 3 built i plan on building another to stack on top of it but i'm torn whether to try to get the giant ameiva (link above) or some chilean dwarf tegus, decisions decisions......
anyways, i'm glad that this many people have posted on here and have an interest in other teiid species, if rick set's up a forum for smaller teiids it's only gonna further captive husbandry techniques and gain peoples interests in other teiids besides tegus

Teiidae, I don't generally speak of many of my critters, it avoids having to deal with nagging questions and such all the time. At the moment, I have to admit, my Teiid collection is a little sparce, but has/does include(d) Tupinambis, Ameiva, Callopistes, Cnemidophorus and Kentropyx species. As one of our professors once said, when we have visiting speakers and such, it would better to take them to my place than to visit the zoo, there's more to see.
