Tegu only eating pinkies?

I have never seen my tegu eat until he finally ate a pinkie the other day. Didn't see him eat since and I dropped another 2 pinkies in his cage and he immediately gobbled them up. I even tried putting one of those 2 pinkies in his food bowl which had some mealworms and crickets but he wouldnt touch it. What do I do? Im glad he's finally eating but im not glad that its only pinkies. Is he really that picky? Advice would be great.

I would say try not offering any pinkies for a while untill he starts eating something else, but if you do give in and feed them - make sure they are dusted - he needs calcium and aint gonna get it from a pinky only diet...

yeah i dusted them in calcium but in the two or three weeks that iv had him he hasnt eaten a thing, only the pinkies. i put a pinkie with the crickets and mealworms and he wouldnt touch the pinkie until i took it out.

Try a little raw ground turkey, 93% lean or better (with vit/calc) and see if he will eat it. Try some grapes, banana, or strawberry chopped up. If you can get him eating other stuff you can mix in some crix and he will get used to it.
