umm... what are we talking about here?? we would love to help you but we need more info
Ah yes you shouldn't really keep a bearded dragon on sand. Especially if it's small. If it's an adult and you feed him/her in a bowl it might be okay, be definetely don't keep a baby or juvie on sand. _________________ 1.0 Argentine B/W Tegu (Dante)

little guys on sand very dangerous to get an impaction if it accidentally eats some while dragging his veggies or bugs in it. some people will feed the dragon in a rubbermaid tub (bare bottom) and dump the crix in with him. when he's done, back in the cage w/ sand, but quite a few die from eating the substrate. enough that it's become "the rule". once they are adults the risk is much lower. also, if your temps are low or if dragon gets dehydrated he is more likely to have digestion issues. i would go with papertowels or tiles until he is about 16" total, then you can give him the decked out sand, etc enclosure. i've kept them both ways, but never a baby on sand. oh yeah, if crap builds up in sand you can get a stench and more prone to him getting pinworms from crix eating the crap at night. the crix cycle the pinworms back to dragon.
I use shelf liner for mine - cheap, easy to clean, no risk of impactions, no-where for bugs to hide...
Absolutely agreed. That's what I use and with my adult beardie, I know where she goes to the bathroom (she goes only in the morning), so every night before I go to bed I just lay a paper towel down in that spot and she goes on top of it. Practically no clean up. Shelf liner is the way to. It's only like $5 a roll at Wal-Mart, too. _________________ 1.0 Argentine B/W Tegu (Dante)

Now that my beardie is an adult, I keep her on kids play sand; she likes to dig in it! I agree that babies are more prone to impaction, since they have much smaller digestive tracts, and so shouldnt really be kept on anything else other than paper or some other non-particulate substrate until they are a lot bigger and can pass the fine grains that are accidentally ingested.
A baby can theoretically live on sand, but ultimately youre playing with your babys life by putting it at risk. On the flip side, there is very little risk with paper or shelf liner. Its your call _________________ www.freewebs.com/johelian www.freewebs.com/joslittleworld
