Finally! Here is what I spent all of my Saturday mornings on this summer,
the tegu townhouse - 8' x 32" x 32". I still have some finishing touches to
do but it's up and the lizards are in and happy! The overall pic was taken
in the morning when the lights were off and they were sleeping.
The top is vacant for now until my little red gets bigger.
The front and sides are oak and everything is finished with water based
non-toxic satin polycrylic, 5 coats. The interior was painted with non-toxic
water based latex that is actually washable. The lights are up top behind
dark boards on 1/2" hardware cloth so the tegus can't get at them. the sides have butterfly vents for ventilation. I'll take better pix later.
Bottom/base is 3/4" painted and sealed plywood. The glass is 3/16" tempered, yes, it was expensive but worth it. The doors, or frames slide
open on tracks. The second pic is Liz on top (1 yr old from Bert) and Romeo under (hibernated 1 yr old from Rick). Under their log pile is their
hide box which is an upside down littler box with hole cut into it.
Enjoy!
