do you think this is ok for my setup? the left side has a burried shoebox for a night time hide and the basking spot is right over it. the other side is where the large water dish is and on top of it is another hide. anything i should change??

Is it cardboard shoebox? If so, its probably going to get soggy and eventually mouldy the first time you mist the cage icon_smile.gif You can get a plastic one if youre dead set on a hide; or, if you get some slightly curved bits of cork bark, your tegu will make its own hide. Very satisfying watching a tegu dragging bits of decor about to build a burrow.

Im a big advocate for fake plants in the cage for this reason; there isnt a day that my tegu doesnt drag them about or burrow through them, so theyre a good, cheap form of enrichment for these intelligent beasties. You can do something artistic with them, or just throw them in; your tegu will rearrange them to his tastes anyway. icon_smile.gif

Is the whole top of that tank screened? If so, I would put a sheet of plexiglas over about half to keep the humidity in, too.

i have half of it covered with a glass canopy. yea im kinda worried about the shoe box rotting. i covered the inside of it with crayon (non toxic) which should make the inside pretty waterproof and the outside looked laminated, but still im worried. ill probably get something else asap.
