Let me just first say that I'm very "construction-illiterate." I don't know too much about how to build. However, my tegu doesn't seem to be shedding so I'm thinking I need to raise the humidity in his tank and switch from a screen cover to maybe a plexi-glass cover (or anything else that isn't filled with thousands of little holes). Sooo...
First question: I'd much rather buy one than try my hand at making one, so do any of you guys know of any stores I could order a cover that isn't screen?
Second question: If I do end up having to build one, how could I go about doing it while still making it easy for me to get into his cage?
Thanks a lot guys! _________________ In the end, we will conserve only what we love; we will

Might be easier to just cover the top of the tank with aluminum foil, an old shower curtain, saran wrap, etc. for now. Is this a temporary cage? That way you can control how much of the lid is covered to have better control over humidity, air flow, and temperature. _________________ Kris, Herps they're not just a hobby, they're a way of life!

It is a temporary cage, yes. He's still fairly young, about a foot and a half long including tail.
I was thinking about doing that but I'm not sure how I could incorporate it with the heat and UVB lamps on his cage. My best idea was to just cut holes in it....lol. _________________ In the end, we will conserve only what we love; we will

Ya, with your heat/lights on top of the cage, aluminum foil would be your best, temporary solution in my opinion. _________________ Kris, Herps they're not just a hobby, they're a way of life!
i just covered over 3 feet of my 4 foot screen cover and its still isnt holding humidity too well. i have to spray every hour or so to keep it up around 70%. i think im going to try that wet towel idea next...
A modified screen top works good because the UV emited from the
lights can still pass through. Glass and plexi tops will filter out most, if
not all UV. _________________ 1.1.0 B/W Argentine Tegu
