The general opinion seems to be that red iguanas are simply a color variation on the green iguana aka iguana iguana. I have seen hatchling red iguanas, but have yet to see an adult in captivity. TO my knowledge, they require the same care of a green iguana, and have the same temperament. Petsmart was selling them for a while but I don't know if they are anymore. Do you have pictures of yours? _________________ Kris, Herps they're not just a hobby, they're a way of life!
Well, its too bad she bought a pet without researching. But good for you that you get such a neat animal. I hope we get to see pics soon! I've only seen red iguanas in pictures. I've seen one young albino iguana, and the pictures of the adult female albino iguana.
Can't wait,a nd congrats on your new pet!

I don't think its illegal becuase our petco still sells them. Recently there was a picture of an adult female red iguana on Kingsnakes classifieds but i can't find the picture. To me it looks orange, almost like its eatten too many carrots, lol. And from what i've been told i have to agree with worleygurl that its just a color morph like the albino and the blue phase that was out a few years ago (hum wonder what happen with that).
