I've been thinking and I think a skunk would be the best option for a different pet. They aren't to fast and they can become very friendly. I hear they really don't smell (after the glands are removed) Any insite?

Gotta love those,
I read this so keep in mind or investigate , with the skunks, like ferrets, the females must also have a male when she is in heat. They can stay in heat for a long time and die of heart failure (from stress)if not breed.

'This period should last from 2 to 4 weeks, but could go on even longer. Female skunks are under tremendous physical stress during this time, and are prone to kidney problems, heart attacks or other major health problems if not spayed at about 4 months'

As long as the skunk is fixed you will run into little problems. Skunks that are left "in tact" can become extremely aggressive and dangerous once they go into heat.
