My B/W tegu is being treated of worms by a vet with Panacur and is doing ok.
But he still having loose stools and today when he defecated some sort of yellow substance like solid egg yolk came out, with liquid and what appears to be a small faeces and a tiny piece of egg shell.
What's that? Did he urinate, defecate or what?
Urates that are a strong yellow colour and/or very firm in texture could be indicative of one of several things, including dehydration or kidney problems. Normal urates are mostly white or off-white, and are accompanied by what looks like water and often faeces (brown). It may be worth mentioning to your vet to see if any further action needs to be taken. _________________ www.freewebs.com/johelian www.freewebs.com/joslittleworld

Normal feces The fecal mass has maintained its integrity, and both the white and clear-ish urates can be seen. The color of the "clear" part of the urates may vary depending on what is being fed (high levels of red and orange plant matter can tinge the urates orange or reddish). Color may also be affected by certain parasite infections (reddish/rust) and by dehydration (orange/bright yellow).
I swear I have read that before - is that from anapsid.com?
My tegu passed several large lumps like those you describe in a bath a while ago, which is why we're now treating him for dehydration (which seems odd considering his humidity is sky high and he drinks quite a bit). This involves injecting his mice with a water/Reptoboost solution and loads of warm water soaks...we have also been advised to reduce his protein intake to see if that makes a difference. If not, theres a possibility its linked to liver or kidney problems, but the vet is confident that that wont be the case as hes otherwise very healthy and active. _________________ www.freewebs.com/johelian www.freewebs.com/joslittleworld
