My male & female have been out of hibernation just over a month.
Both will be 2 this summer. Since the weekend their appetites have
severely dropped. Over the last 2 to 3 weeks the temp has been slowly
and consistently rising in the enclosure since it is now getting warmer here in WI. I would say the temps have gone up 5 to 10 degrees overall.
My heat/light source is at one end of the enclosure so I have a good temp gradient ranging from 75 to 90 with basking temps around 110 to 115 give
or take. The humidity is anywhere from 50% to 75%.
They appear fine and are sticking to their normal schedule as far as wake up and activity goes but hardly seem interested in their food. Normally they have a good strong feeding response, especially my male.
Is a lack of appetite a possible breeding indicator?
I am not around during the day so I have no idea if anything has happened between them?
Anybody have any thoughts?
Thanks,

Some tegus do go off food a bit when breeding, others still eat the whole time. IMO, the males tend to get caught up in the breeding more so than the females. _________________ www.tegu.com and www.Varnyard-herps-inc.com
