Does selective breeding make a difference? You tell me, I try to breed for color, size and disposition. I must say the hard work has paid off, all tegus are not alike. Breeding tegus to get tegus is one thing, but breeding selectively is another story. Here are some of my babies produced this season and last season.

Note the pattern between the scales is all green:

This is normal to have the black markings between the scales:

Here are more with reduced bands on the neck and heads:

Here are some yearlings produced last year:

So I would need to say, yes it does matter. This is the rewards!! icon_smile.gif

Beautiful animals. I always love the green heads. Hey Bobby, for the free tegu contest, will the winner get a tegu like in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd pic?

Selective breeding is very important to me personally .
Your pics demonstrate this clearly.
I have been grabbing up colorful ones for a few years now for this very reason.
It is worth the longer wait just for awesome bloodlines.
Your collection is top notch.
It is about quality not quantity.
Best Regards
Jeff

Wow Bobby, if I am ever capable of taking care of another tegu, I hope you are still in business! They look great, and from everything I read from you and from others, you are a very talented person. Not to mention that the tegus are lucky icon_smile.gif

They all look beautiful, as always. icon_wink.gif Is the tegu in the first pic a Chacoan or an Argentine? I would guess chacoan.
