First off they get BIG! So you need to have lots of room. Be prepared to change theyre water atleast 2x a day as they very active lizards. (digging, then swimming, diggin then swimming) Also they have a huge appetite! Mines just over a foot and downs 2-3 hoppers a day. I just bought a juevie argus about 2 weeks ago, so all the info im giving you is just from the research taht i have done.

I was told that they just put on a show and dont bite, but mine begs to differ. Still workin on holding the guy without getting bit, and for his size right now......MAN CAN HE BITE! So gloves would def be a good purchase. Haha, but over all i love my argus! I find everything he does very interesting, specially his tripod stance.

If you seriously want to get one, i suggest you go to http://www.varanus.nl/index.shtml. Lots of helpful info there! Carefull about tellin them you are gettin a argus for you first monitor....they might tear you apart! haha! and 50 bucks is an amazing price, i paid a steep 250 for mine. GOOD LUCK!.

heres a pic of Stewie!

i would be wary about the price. 50$ is REALLY REALLY cheap. they need large enclousures because they like to roam and are quite hyperactive. they have the strongest feed response of any monitor and you can get bit quite easily. they dont really like to be handled and get about 5ft if male and 3ft if female. they need alot of substrate to dig. im talkin like 1.5-3ft of dirt.
your enclosuer should be about 4X4X12ft for an adult

I hope you're planning to move to a bigger place or sell some tegus, because that argus is going to get to 5' or more and require a lot of space!
