I picked up a juvie from last year that the previous owner dumped. Cute little fella that I am now feeding daily. He/she is about 20" TL at 9 months of age. I know he is a bit underweight but is the length about right?

Thanks in advance. I'm absolutely loving this species, these guys are so personable. He's just one animal in a household of 3 dogs, 1 cat, 2 ferrets, 3 snakes, 2 spiders, a baby, a wife and me icon_lol.gif Plenty of company here.

Hey, how do you like the blue beauties? I've heard they have a very aggressive disposition. Are they as nasty as my Tiger Rats (S.pullatus) I wonder?

They're very shy but if i handle them very slowly and carefully they won't strike anymore. The first 2 months I had them they were very nippy I got bitten for general maintenance. They're getting very big very fast, probably a foot in the last 2 months since i got them and the female is really getting plump.

I'm assuming fed everyday? The guy who dumped mine didn't feed him very much, he's skinny. 2 of you have 30+ inchers, so either mine is a really small female or just woefully underfed. Hopefully just underfed because that's changed 180 degrees. Maybe I'll start to see some growth.

My male is just a bit over a foot long. I think he was born June/July. I'll admit that I didn't know exactly how much a growing tegu needed to eat earlier, so he is undersized for his age. He started getting some rapid growth in the month where I started to basically give him an abundance of food, but went into hibernation before anything significant showed.
