Someone told me today, not to feed my beardie and tegu super worms. They said if it is swallowed whole or doesn't die right away, that it can chew through the stomach? This made me nervous and I wanted to get other opinions. Since i trust all of you over anyone at the local pet stores, I thought i'd ask. icon_cool.gif

Hahaha lol icon_lol.gif don't believe this. It's a myth.

You can look on this site (agama international), in the Faq questions.

I've saw a lot of these posts about superworms on different forums. Someone obviosuly deviously created this myth.

We have been told this twice before about mealworms from people in Reptile shops.

As a result I actually stopped feeding Louie these as I was so worried as he used to really enjoy them. So this is good to know

Super worms are good feeders but mealworms aren't I wouldn't even feed them anyway; They can cause severe impactation and are low in nutritional value.

I don't know why independant herp stores sell them when they are so horribly bad... I was at a reptile store and I asked the asistant why they sell mealworms and they said that they are rubbish but they lose a lot of customers due to it.. icon_sad.gif

Wax worms are a good treat, but not a stable feeder. My tegu refuses them but beardies chow down on them everytime they are given icon_biggrin.gif Have you tried them with your tegu yet?

In the early days yes and he was ok with eating them but then he used to eat crickets and locust then as well, haven't tried him for a while so it would be touch and go as to whether he would or wouldn't as he is quite a fussy eater icon_lol.gif
