Today I decided that my little hatchling has had enough time to settle in. I have had her for a little over two weeks now and I only handle her only when feeding. She was very jumpy and it was a little difficult at first. Slowly she became less resistant but was still ALWAYS resistant. My girlfriend and I took your advice and we began to pick her up, and hold her for a few mins and then set her back in. We did that maybe 4-5 times and it got to the point where she would let us pick her right up. We then made a little barrier with some woodplanks so that we could set her down but not have to worry about her sprinting off to hide somewhere where we would never find her. We would set her on the floor and let her roam around and then pick her up for a bit. She got to the point where she was falling asleep from us petting her. She was like a totally new tegu. I cant wait to work with her again tomorrow!
The best part is normally after handling her for feeding, she always goes into hiding and tends to come out when there isnt much foot traffic. Well after working with her this evening she never burrowed into hiding! She is in her hide sleeping ABOVE ground for the first time since we got her!! I was begining to think I wasted my money on that hide!!
Basically, I just wanted to say thanks for that thread you posted on taming, it really worked well for me!!
wow, A thread with my name in it. Thats an honor, I am glad that it worked for you. tegu's are smart and they learn routine very fast, keep me posted with your progress

I agree with you cwj108, jose and Bubbasherps are the one that helps me choosing between a Red Tegu and a B/w Tegu. _________________ Ben

I second that Jose, I have been given good advice and help and assistance by lots of people on here, but you have helped me out a lot and given me peace of mind on quite a few occasions where I have been quite anxious about things.
So thank you too from me and my animal gang _________________ 1.0.0 Louie Our Red Argentine Tegu
