do not use cedar.. it will kill them.. i built mine out of 2''/3''/8' and they work great strong enough but still light. and plywood, showerboard, and plexiglass.
and a crap ton of sealant . have fun..

I'm getting close to having my new cage done. It is only 4ftx2ftx2ft. She is only a foot long and I only need something to last me until then end of the year. I used pine but the inside is completely lined with tileboard. The only thing she can come in contact with is the tileboard. I sealed the outside and edges of the wood. I should have my double decker cage done by mid next week, ill post photos if anyone wants to see.

Cool tile board sounds ggod cus I was gonna use plywood all round d side and back so I might do the whole tilre board thing inside,my tegu is only 16inches but I figure that if I build a huge one now I wont have to change it(for a long time anyway)Im just lazy so hopefully one build is enough. Was thinkin of havin a double decker one too but I think my beardy is getting a tank in the living room next as the whole family love her haha they dont really like the tegu, but they dont know what they are missing icon_biggrin.gif Post some pics of your tank I would like to see it and it would give every1 ideas that is building them

Tools and building are my thing, I am always looking for an excuse to build something haha. Thats why if I build a smaller one now, its a given that ill have to build a bigger one down the road(plus I am limited on space at the moment).
I bought the tileboard at lowes, I bought the nicer looking stuff for 18 bucks a sheet (4x8). I bought water proof caulk for bathrooms and kitchens and I also bought waterproof liquid nails to seal it down to the plywood.
You always want to keep in mind what the tegu or beardie can come in contact with and what can be harmful. I always read the labels on anything I use.
I will def post some pictures up when I get it finished! Hopefully that will be monday or tues!! I have been working on this for a couple weeks now!
