When my tegu basks he puts his head against the surface of what he is basking on. Is there something wrong with him or is this normal, he never use to do it.

Curty.

He just puts it down and keeps it down, also earlier when I was feeding him he rubbed his head against it but I thought that was because of the shed.

Curty.

Both things that he is doing is normal.Usually our Tegus look like they are taking a nap when they are basking. Also all of our reptiles rub against what ever they can find, like rocks or logs to get the shed of and they scratch them self sometimes, too. If you see him rubbing against something you can give him a bath to help him with the shedding.

our tegu loves to bask with his head resting on one of his front paws...just like a dog... he dozes under his lamp for hours like this but always keeps an an eye open every now and again.....loves having his neck rubbed when he basks must relax him i suppose also he rubs his head against his slate basking spot sometimes when he sheds helps to get rid of his loose skin....
