I got my tegu for a year. A few days ago, I noticed a small pink bulb protruding from his vent. I don't know if it is his penis or not. Should I be concerned about this? He is acting as normal and moving around easily. Any ideas????
Yes it is. let me just say this is not my area. however, I do have a male arg. that became 'mature' this year and I do notice the same thing; especially when they are mating.
there are many knowledgable and experienced members here. I'm sure someone will offer more knowledge.
in the meantime Welcome Aboard ! come share your photos and experiences with us.

Hi & Welcome!
Are you sure it's a hemipenis you are seeing?
If you see it breifly and it goes back in that is fine. If it is out constantly
and he can't retract it then there is a problem and he should see a vet.
It could also be a cloacal prolapse. Prolapses are usually caused by straining or stress when trying to void waste.
Either way he should see a vet if it is out constantly.
Good luck!

Definitely a vet call on this one! Whether it is a penis or a prolapse, that soft tissue getting dry and scraped can cause serious problems down the road. In the meantime, try to keep it clean and moist to prevent damage and infection. _________________ Laura R (FL)

Finally I went to the vet today. It is actually a intestine prolapse. The vet has put it back. They said it may cause by parasite. They had given me some antibiotics. I think it is doing fine right now. Thank you for all your helps!!!
