they are not that hard at all, Ball python was my first reptile I ever had when I was about 12 years old she was so well tempured and eat like a champ they like humid place kind of like are tegus. They are usally found hiding in termite mounds in africa were they sleep or hide during the day and hunt at night.

I give Ball pythons two scales up. :D

hey justin, they are the sweetest icon_wink.gif. place one hide box/cave on the hot side and another on the cool side. this is so they can regulate their temps and don't get stressed. big bowl of clean water. not that much humidity. easy care.

yes ball pythons are very nice. but they can also be very private and they can be picky. if things don't meet their standards, they are liable to not eat. if mine has a bad shed, he won't talk to me for a month.
also, use a hide that i somewhat realeaving (half log) because he spends a lot of time in there. they look really good in a woodland themed vivarium
a colubrid says "i gotta get the hell out of here!"
a python says "imma sneak in there..."

by far one of the easiest pets to care for.

You still need to handle it on the regular, but not as extensive as most pythons.

i hear mixed things. i read in "The Art of Keeping Snakes" that, because BP's are so docile, people tend to handle them much more than the snake wants to be handled. but i think once you get used to it it's easy to tell if the snake is uncomfortable. When my Djimon is in a good mood he likes to climb and cruise around... otherwise he searches for a place to ball up and hide

Ball Pythons are nice! I had one, there are just lovely. They are calm and have a very good temperament.

If you love to take nap and have it mind to put him on you (under the t-shirt) they are just the right pet for you!

good luck and have fun! icon_biggrin.gif

they are pretty easy, so you could get by with newspaper and stuff but if you go all out, it shows. i like to use bark or cypress mulch as the substrate. they require a hide, if not two. i think the basking area should be 80-90 F (ten degrees cooler at night) and the humidity is 60%. (i always put a heat pad under where the water dish is and put a towel ont he top of the cage to keep it steamy)

i feed mine live prey, in its tank. this was not my choice. he is an adopted snake and he has always been fed like that so it's what he gets. my other snakes are fed frozen. they can be very picky. my Djimon only shows interests in white rats (weirdo...)

Don't be surprised if it dosen't eat for a week and they can be pickey eaters. Its goood to switch up the rodents from rats two mice once and a while.
