Hi everyone , i'm usually on Repticzone but someone reccommended this site since i just got a golden(columbian) tegu last week.i've seen it eat, but i haven't lately because it is always burried or trying to escape so i just leave food in there. it seems to always get out and i need to know how by posting pics, so my question is,how do i post pictures?[/i]

their is a limit to the size of the photo's so if they're streight from your camera you might have to reduce their size a bit.
it pisses me off that i can't spell straght. _________________ 1.1.0 Arg B/W Tegu Joker n Groxy

I have my colombians where they can see/watch me. so that in time they don't see me as a threat/predator. the whole idea is to build trust. which is going to take time and patience.

are glass tanks better? i think they are cruel because the animal doesn't know what glass is and is always trying to get out.
or is it the opposite reason that my tegu always gets out, because he can't see what's going on outside of his rubbermaid?
don't worry i have 6 inches of bedabeast under the 1 inch layer of reptibark.
tegu's are smart they know what glass is. it's more of a size issue with glass than the material itself. _________________ 1.1.0 Arg B/W Tegu Joker n Groxy

hey Gottee, you have a beautiful gold colombian there. I just got two myself and may get even more. these guys I got are just like my other b/w colombian 'angel'. they are so darn tame. eat right from hand. right now the one 'beau' is hiding behind the pillow where I am.
imo, I think the glass would be better to choose from because as I said they can watch and get to know you on their terms. get used to seeing you. I could go on forever ......
just a thought if you like the rubbermaid you can cut a good size part of the side out (file down the edges) and attach the screening to it. that way he can also watch you on his terms.
now I'm being curious; can you get cypress mulch ? how is the humidity ? what kind of lid ?
oh and so far mine will eat chicken, turkey, some very, very lean ground meat (all raw), hard boiled eggs and of course some rodent.

i wouldn't be feeding it when it gets to a couple feet!
all i can get mine to eat are pinkies/fuzzies,fish,crickets and hard boiled egg.it won't touch mealworms, waxworms, or superworms though.but who said that was a bad thing!
i'm probably going to try silkworms and raw ground meat. if he likes silkworms it will be his staple diet along with crickets, because of their good nutrition.
i was thinking of cutting a hole and screening it off in the rubbermaid.i actually might switch to glass tanks now,but all i have is a 10 gallon. he's a genius and can get out of the rubbermaid real easily. i will post pics of what it looks like on top.

well nevermind he doesn't get out anymore since the bricks are on there.
i will make a screened part into the side in a few days or whenever i can. _________________ --0.1.0 Columbian Tegu--

Gottee, he is a cutie ! I love my golds and will probably get more. a better idea for now is to cut a large piece of the lid and place screening that way.
